Since the launch of Campaign 4, fresh DM Brennan Lee Mulligan has kept fans guessing with deep backstory, a colorful mix of personalities, and a thrilling plot including angels, evil spirits, and malevolent powers expanding in power within the urban setting.
Warning: Revealing details for Episode 3 of Campaign 4 follow below.
The Combat-Oriented Party Introduced
Episode 3 concluded with a dramatic pause and introduced the premier party of adventurers who will split off from the primary party to undertake their own adventure, apart from the remaining groups.
The Soldiers table consists of the determined fighter (brought to life by Travis), Thimble (the talented performer), the fierce warrior (the cast member), the cleric (Sam Riegel), and the mysterious adventurer (Robbie).
Why Split the Party?
Considering an extensive roster, it was obvious from the beginning that having everyone at the same party would be unworkable.
That’s why, the first four episodes of the new season serve as an Prelude, intertwining the individual narratives before splitting into three separate parties: Soldiers, Strategists, and Seekers.
Characteristics of the Soldiers Table
As described by the Dungeon Master, the warrior group is for players who are drawn to a typically action-packed combat and conflict-driven story mode where diplomatic options are rare.
At first glance, figures such as the squeamish cleric the cleric might appear mismatched, but the developments of episode 3 demonstrate why these specific adventurers are perfectly fit for the warrior group.
Why They Must Go
For one thing, the party has a clear idea where to proceed after a intense initial meeting with the antagonists.
An old friend of the deceased character—whose passing initiated the campaign’s events—used the enemy for his personal gain, entering Thjazi’s hideout, attacking Thimble, and swiping all the magical artifacts to auction.
Casimir then cleared his liabilities and escaped to a fortified location in Gormalay, Timmony, north of Dol-Makjar, with Teor’s brother hot on his heels.
Individual Reasons
Secondly, each member has a personal reason to depart the metropolitan area:
- The rogue, as Thjazi’s partner and best friend, wants revenge.
- The adventurer is familiar with the region and cautions that it is a dangerous environment.
- The strong character and The cleric, having disobeyed his relatives’ demands to kill the target and instead freed him, have no other options.
- Yet, their reputation as important members in the influential clan could assist the party enter places they normally couldn’t.
- Furthermore, The grateful character pledged a life debt to Wicander for his rescue and will now accompany him everywhere.
Wanted and Hunted
In addition, all of them are sought by the rulers that control Dol-Makjar for a range of causes, making staying in the city too risky:
- The rogue and Kattigan are notorious outlaws.
- The warrior and The healer turned against House Halovar and the horde of evil beings they are allied with.
- Teor is targeted for elimination by the family.
This results in them few options but to head to Timmony in search of the traitor.
Upcoming Developments
Based on the recent installment’s post-show segment, we learn that the Soldiers table will not appear next week, leaving the rest of the participants to form the Explorers and Schemers parties.
Audiences can look forward to finding out which players will be where in Campaign 4’s last Overture episode, streaming live on October 24.
